The Bialowieza Forest has an official nominee in the competition “New Seven Wonders of Nature” (category : ”Forests”) and compete even with The Amazon Forest for the honour. We recommend visiting this unspoiled region of The Bialowieza National Park. The place is the only one and last site in Europe where forests are preserved in their primeval character.  The magic reserve of huge trees, lush greenery and rich in wildlife used to be the home of pagan rituals.The symbol of the Park is a wisent (the European bison) – the biggest mammal of the old continent. The last wisent died in 1919 but after a few years Polish scientists succeeded in reproducing a population of lowland wisents out of a few specimens kept in captivity.
