The Museum of Pawiak Prison
During the German occupation this was a Gestapo prison. The Pawiak was known as a place where member of polish resistance suffered appalling tortures. Over one hundred thousand Polish citizens were imprisoned in the Pawiak during World War II, and over thirty thousand lost their lives.
The Warsaw Uprising Museum.
The museum was opened in 2005 as an expression of homage to the heroes of the Warsaw Uprising. Here you will find the answer to why the Uprising broke out , why ordinary people decided to fight though their chance of victory were very low. This multimedia museum in Polish and English will help you understand that this battle for freedom. There are many insurgent souvenirs and recordings of those times as well as model of the insurgent escaped at the end. A replica of a Liberator B24-Jbomber is also on view.

One of the best examples of 19th century military defensive architecture. From its beginnings the citadel was a prison where many Polish patriots were held. The Citadel slopes where the place of execution of several patriots and revolutionists. revolutionaries and patriots were executed. Nowadays on its area partly transformed into a park there is preserved building of the 10th Pavilon it houses the Museum where visitors can see cells and an exhibition showing documents and souvenirs concerning prisoners which were held in it till World War I.
